The ACT Districts Boundaries are a region defined for land administration and the legal description of land parcels. In urban areas districts contain divisions, sections and blocks. In rural areas they contain blocks only. The boundaries of districts are defined in metes and bounds form in the Districts Act 1966, and thus cannot be changed without changes to the legislation.

The feature names data refers to the specific official, commercial or colloquial name used to refer to a particular feature or collective group of features in the ACT. A number of feature names have been formally determined as public place names, for example divisions (suburbs) and some parks, however this does not apply to features such as commercial buildings and schools.
The ACT Government is responsible for the naming of public places in the ACT (nomenclature).
For further information about Place Names or to search for a specific street or division (suburb), please refer to the Place Names.

The Territory Plan is the key statutory planning document in the ACT, providing the policy framework for the administration of planning in the ACT.
The Territory Plan guides the planning and development of the ACT. It is changed from time to time due to social, economic and environmental reasons. The Territory Plan is used to manage development, in particular the way in which land is used and what can be built. It is used in the process of assessing development applications and to guide the development of new estate areas (future urban land). Land in the ACT is divided into sections and blocks. The blocks are zoned and the zoning determines the form of development on a block. There are 23 different zones. The Territory Plan map shows all these zones as different colours.
The purpose of the Territory Plan map is to show the zones and overlays that apply to land in the ACT, in accordance with requirements under the Planning and Development Act 2007.

Location of playgrounds that are publicly managed by the ACT Government. Includes information about playground type (local, neighbourhood, central community, district), division name, location description, play area count, upgrade year, parking, usage, shade, list of features (eg climber, cubby, swing etc) and total structures. These assets are managed by City Presentation, Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate (TCCS) and Parks and Conservation Service, Environment and Planning Directorate (EPD). Privately managed playgrounds and playgrounds managed by other ACT Government Directorates are not included. Polygons in the playground data are not precisely mapped and may include several play areas (defined as softfall areas). If exact softfall boundaries are required please refer to the Playareas dataset. These assets are captured and maintained in the TCCS asset database through the works as executed (WAE) handover process or field audits.

Soil and Land Resources of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
This digital soil landscape product contains natural resource mapping for the Australian Capital Territory. The project was completed by the Office of Environment and Heritage (NSW). The project was funded by the ACT Government to enhance knowledge of soils, landscapes and physical constraints to land use in the urban and rural environment. The information will assist in informed decision making, planning and environmental modelling throughout the catchment.
55 soil landscape map units have been described for the ACT. Each unit is an inventory of soil and landscape information with relatively uniform land management requirements, allowing major soil and landscape qualities and constraints to be identified.
The GIS product shown here provides location of each of the soil landscape map units - including the soil landscape code and name. For more detailed information please see the full soil landscape reports for each unit, as well as the final report shown at: https://www.environment.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/2079667/soil-landscapes-of-the-act-2016.pdf. Detailed spreadsheets can be used to join more detailed information to the GIS also available on request.
